Director of Product Design

As the Director of Product Design you will grow and lead a Product Design team that engages in UX/UI design and user research. The Director will establish a design strategy and system for an end-to-end solution that encompasses different products and users for web-based and mobile applications. Leveraging human centered design and design thinking principles, you will offer a fresh, innovative design perspective that helps align cross-functional stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Elevate and inspire your team to reach their best potential by providing feedback, guidance, and mentorship
  • Collaborate closely with peers at the organization (including Product Management and Technology leaders) with a focus on shared strategic goals and improvements that drive positive impact for the team
  • Oversee design delivery for product features and new product development
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with the wider organization to improve our products
  • Handle deadlines, ambiguous situations, and undefined product areas with a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Bring a human-centered design approach to solving for complex design problems in a large ecosystem with multiple user types
  • Establish and guide user research and analysis to ensure solutions are innovative yet usable, relevant yet unique.
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product management and engineering
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Develop UI/UX mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate function and feel as part of user testing and/or getting buy in from key stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and balance user goals with business strategy and technical feasibility.
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX challenges/issues (e.g. responsiveness)

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of proven work experience as a UX Designer and Manager, including experience in user research, design system development, interaction design, and visual design for both web-based and mobile applications
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with design tools and software, i.e. Figma, InVision
  • Team player with strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Effective and efficient problem solver
  • Ability to successfully manage ambiguity tied to early phases of design
